From the heart of Dr. Robert L. Taylor, Th.D., Bible Teacher & Expositor. Agape love is the God-kind of love. In the Bible, agape love represents a pure, selfless, and sacrificial love that is driven by a desire for the other person's well-being. It's often considered the highest form of love, signifying a love that extends beyond attraction or obligation and is characterized by empathy, care, and a willingness to sacrifice for the loved one. The essence of agape love is goodwill, benevolence, and willful delight in the object of love. Unlike our English word love, agape is not used in the New Testament to refer to romantic or sexual love. Nor does it refer to close friendship or brotherly love. Agape love involves faithfulness, commitment, and an act of the will. It is distinguished from the other types of love by its lofty moral nature and strong character. Agape love is beautifully described in 1 Corinthians 13. In other words, this love isn’t soft. It’s not weakness. This love is your strength. This love is your strategy. When you lead with this love, you reflect the heart of God in your home, in your relationships, in your purpose, and in your community. You lead boldly through sacrifice, not ego. And that kind of love? Well, it simply wins!!! It builds stronger families. Agape love heals what the world has broken. The world is waiting for more men to walk in their God-given power, the kind rooted in agape love, wisdom and divine authority. The world is looking for men who take dominion through compassion, character and Christ-centered leadership. When you lead with agape love you activate your God-given authority to transform lives, families and communities. Leading with agape love is how your legacy (the long-lasting impact of particular events, actions, etc.) is built! Be encouraged to love unconditionally! Be encouraged to function in the God kind of love!
