Understanding 2 Corinthians 4:6 (Part Two)

The phrase “the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” means that the invisible, infinite character, power, and majesty of God are fully revealed and made approachable in the human person and earthly life of Jesus. In other words, Jesus is the exact image of God. Scripture teaches that while no human can look upon the unveiled, infinite glory of God directly and live but, in Jesus, the divine nature took on human flesh, letting people see God's character up close. For that reason, Paul contrasts Jesus with Moses. When Moses met with God on Mount Sinai, his face shone with a bright reflection of God’s glory, but he had to put a veil over his face because that glory was too intense and eventually faded (2 Corinthians 3:7, 18). In contrast, the glory of God shining in the face of Jesus does not fade; it brings permanent spiritual life and transformation to believers.
