Dear Women! (Part One)

From the heart of Dr. Robert L. Taylor, Th.D., Bible Expositor & Teacher. I’ll begin with the following questions. Who is a godly woman and what is godly womanhood all about? Different people have different opinions on what makes a woman and her lifestyle godly. However opinions don’t really matter much. Only what God says in the Bible matters, and because it matters to God, women need to find out exactly what He says, and how to practically apply it to their lives. Who is a godly woman? Any woman who has given her life to Jesus is a Christian. That’s where it begins! I understand that it is a no-brainer, but there is more to it. See, being a Christian is not the same thing as being a godly woman. Apples and peaches are fruit, but they are not the same things either. A biblical woman is a woman who is Christ-centered. Just because someone is a Christian doesn’t equate to being Christ-focused. The quest for biblical womanhood begins in the same place that biblical manhood begins. Paul says, “there is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28). In Christ, we have equal value and equal responsibility to obey and serve the Lord. All biblical commands about surrender (Romans 12:1–2), service (Romans 12:1), and dedication (1 Corinthians 7:33–35) apply equally to men and women. A godly woman is not fooled by the lies that try to convince her that attractiveness, personal worth, and fulfillment are found in physical, external beauty. The godly woman’s affections are fixed on Christ, her great God and Savior, and she makes every effort to follow His example of good works. She has a heavenly focus, a maranatha mindset, and she seeks to adorn herself with godliness, not worldliness. Be encouraged!
