Are you God’s enemy?

According to Scripture, individuals outside of Jesus are not just passive strangers to God! They’re in an active state of rebellion or alienation to Him. Paul reminds us with these words, “For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life” (Romans 5:10). Yes, the Bible indicates that people can and do hate God. Biblically, this "hatred" is defined not just as an emotion, but as an active, defiant opposition to His authority, rejection of His truth, disobedience to His commands, and hostility toward His followers. Paul teaches, “Because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so” (Romans 8:7). This verse highlights that a worldly, sinful mindset opposes God and cannot comply with His laws. This hatred/hostility manifests as a desire to live independently of God's laws. Be reconciled to God! Be encouraged!
