From the desk of Dr. Robert L. Taylor, Th.D., Bible Teacher & Expositor. Let me explain why I chose this particular title. Our great salvation is a part of God's program to exalt, honor, and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, so that He's preeminent in and over all things! That's a view of salvation that we hear all too seldom! It's an uncommon view of salvation, but it's God's view of salvation! Salvation is neither attributed to our goodness, nor to our choice! Salvation is the work of almighty God. Salvation is not our "inviting God into our life!" Salvation is not "the Lord standing at the door of our heart and knocking to be let in!" Salvation is not Jesus dying on the cross because He couldn't bear the thought of living without us! Salvation is about God sending His Son to the cross for His pleasure, and to bring glory to Himself! In other words, salvation is more about God than it is about you and me. We're looking for teachings and messages that make us feel good about ourselves, instead of those that are biblically sound, spiritually challenging, and sometimes downright uncomfortable! This is because we're not aware that the biblical perspective of salvation is all about God! It's because there are too many uninformed people who erroneously think that God needs them. God is not the needy one, we are! Salvation is about a merciful and gracious God! God saves us so that we'll make much about Jesus! Salvation is about God, who chose to save a people for Himself, for His own pleasure, and for His glory! When it's all said and done, it's time for us to understand and embrace that we've been saved by a sovereign God, and that we're His possession, subordinate to His purposes! It doesn't get any better than that! Be encouraged!
