Astrology, Horoscopes, Signs of the Zodiac, and the Christ follower. (Various Scripture Texts).

What does the Bible have to say about these things? I know of many professed Christ followers who are connected to these things. A cursory look at the many Facebook posts testifies to this fact! The purpose of this teaching is to examine what God says about these things. What is astrology? It is defined as, "the ancient art of divining the fate and future of people from indications given by the positions of the stars and other heavenly bodies." Horoscope is, "a chart of the position of the heavenly bodies, used to predict their supposed influence on people's lives." Zodiac is, "a belt of the heavens including all apparent positions of the sun, moon, and many familiar planets. It's divided into 12 signs of the zodiac." We know them as, "Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Aries, Libra, etc." These are occult practices that are specifically condemned in Scripture!! The occult is defined as, "magic, astrology, or any system claiming use of secret powers or agencies." Astrology attempts to predict the future. Astrology claims to analyze a person's character. Astrology gives advice for guiding a person's life. Astrology offers an explanation for life. Astrology offers a unique experience and a sense of being special. In other words, we hear people say, "I'm a Virgo, or I'm a Libra!" As a Christ follower, we must always ask, "but what does the Bible say?" The Bible says that astrology is false and unreliable! On three occasions, astrologers and other occult experts were asked to predict the future. Every time they failed, but Daniel succeeded by the power of Almighty God (Daniel 4:7; 2:10,11; 5:7,8). God forbids His people to place confidence in astrology. In Deut 18:9-14, 18-22, occult practices are an abomination to God. Verse 14 specifically forbids listening to diviners. Divining is attempting to predict the future by occult methods. Astrology is part of the occult and attempts to predict the future. Astrology is a false standard of guidance. It causes people to seek guidance from sources other than God! Examine Isaiah 47:13-14. The Babylonians relied heavily on astrology. God promised to destroy them, then asked what the astrologers and stargazers would do to stop Him! All were involved in astrology, but they were powerless against God! If you are a Christ follower, you should not have anything whatsoever to do with these things! They're false and are forbidden by the Lord Jesus Christ. Abandon that foolishness and look to the One who Knows the end from the beginning and everything in between! Your move. Be encouraged!
