The Need For Godly Men To Lead The Church....

As the church of Jesus Christ, we always are in danger of drifting with our worldly culture rather than confronting it with God's truth! Who is influencing whom? The church is to influence our culture, not the culture influencing the church! The idea of the culture in which we live is tolerance. It's tolerance of anything except those who are not tolerant! This error has crept into the church and continues to affect it. The Word of God is very clear that elders are not only to exhort in sound, wholesome doctrine, but also to refute those who contradict (Titus 1:9). But the mood of our day is that we are not to criticize or judge anyone, no matter how far out of line they are, because that implies that we're right and they're wrong, and that does not fit with the perceived virtue of tolerance (anything goes). Although you get accused of being unloving when you confront sin and call people to holiness, it's not unloving or uncaring, but the love of God that confronts sin and false doctrine! As godly leaders, we must see sin and false doctrine as God sees it. Sin and teaching that's contrary to the Word of God does not build up but destroys people! Holiness and sound teaching save people from God's judgment and builds them in the joy of the Lord! Our God is holy! We His people, and ESPECIALLY WE WHO ARE LEADERS IN THE CHURCH, must be holy ourselves in all our behavior. The Word of God to all of us is, "Keep yourself pure from sin" (1 Timothy 5:22). As the church, we definitely need godly leadership! Your move. Be encouraged!
