The Bible tells us we can’t fix the world!

From the desk of Dr. Robert L. Taylor, Th.D., Bible expositor & teacher. I have had many conversations with believers about the injustices of this world. The world is full of injustice, and Christians have a wide range of thoughts on how to deal with it. Mankind has spent countless generations ignoring or outright rebelling against God and His divine instructions that show us the difference between right and wrong, good and evil, justice and injustice. For those reasons our world is drowning in the consequences. But how does God say we should approach the injustice of this world? From God’s perspective, this world is broken. More to the point: this world is broken and cannot be fixed until Jesus returns to establish the Kingdom of God on earth. This is a central teaching of Scripture. The Bible tells us we can’t fix the world. However, Paul reminds us, “Looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds” (Titus 2:13-14). The second coming of Jesus Christ is the hope of believers that God is in control of all things, and is faithful to the promises and prophecies in His Word. In His first coming, Jesus came to earth as a baby in a manger in Bethlehem, just as prophesied. Jesus fulfilled many of the prophecies of the Messiah during His birth, life, ministry, death, and resurrection. However, there are some prophecies regarding the Messiah that Jesus has not yet fulfilled. The second coming of Christ will be the return of Jesus to fulfill these remaining prophecies. In His first coming, Jesus was the suffering Servant. In His second coming, Jesus will be the conquering King. In His first coming, Jesus arrived in the most humble of circumstances. In His second coming, Jesus will arrive with the armies of heaven at His side (Revelation 19:11-16). Be encouraged!
