From the heart of Dr. Robert L. Taylor, Th.D., Bible expositor & teacher. Paul teaches us, “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6). Paul begins this verse with a statement of great confidence in the Philippian Christians. The word “confident” is the Greek word which means to be sure, to be certain, and to have absolute conviction. While salvation from the penalty of sin happens at the moment a person accepts Jesus, the process of becoming more like Jesus is exactly that: a process. However, Paul is completely certain that this process of being made like Jesus will continue in the lives of these believers. In particular, this assurance is grounded in the work of Jesus! In other words, Paul has no doubts that God is not finished with these believers! For this reason, I’m gladly shouting, “God is not finished with me yet!” The best is yet to come! God has a plan for every believer and He will see it through. God is still working on you to conform you into His likeness. Be encouraged!
