"Encouragement for the Unsatisfied Christ Follower"

I continue to encounter many Christ followers who are not enjoying their lives as Christ followers! The biblical remedy for these Christ followers is in understanding contentment as well as embracing how God has revealed Himself in the Bible. To have joy in your life, these two things are critical. Every day, Christ followers all over the world wake up not being satisfied with life! They're not content with being Christ followers! The problem is that we try to remove all that we think is linked to our discontentment. Contentment is never found in changing our circumstances. Being healthy or sick, married or single, rich or poor, regardless of the situation, we can always find a way to be unsatisfied! The heart of mankind is not possible to satisfy with temporal things! This is because we always want more. We reason, "life could always be better!" Contentment is a matter of perspective. Remember that Alexander the Great, with all the known world at his feet, cries for another world to rule! For the Christ follower, there's encouragement! We are to understand and embrace that our discontentment and how we see God are linked! Discontentment yells, "You deserve much better!" while at the same time whispers, "God is not giving you what you deserve." Here's the catch. The yells, "You deserve much better" are not true, but the whispers, "God is not giving you what you deserve, " are indeed true. It's a lie that you deserve much better! It's false because it assumes that you and not God know what's best! It's indeed true that God is not giving you what you deserve. We deserve His wrath and justice, yet we get His mercy! You ask the question, "How can me being sick, suffering, and experiencing tragedy be considered mercy?" Simply by understanding that every day we do not wake up in a place called Hades is an example of God's great mercy toward us! There's no calamity or tragedy that we can ever face that's worse than God's wrath. Mercy withholds God's wrath from the Christ follower! There's no pleasure on this earth that compares to the glory of God that's to be revealed to us! From this perspective, on our "worst" day, God is worthy of praise for what He's done! I'm reminded of an old saying which says, "If God never does another thing for us, He's already done enough!" This point of view is biblical and allows us to suffer, knowing that we're not living our best life now, but that the best IS YET TO COME! Your move. Be encouraged!
