From the heart of Dr. Robert L. Taylor, Th.D., Bible Teacher & Expositor. Jesus said, “If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you” (John 15:18-19). Apostle John says, “We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one” (1 John 5:19). In these passages, the word, “world” is defined as, “a system of operation that stands in opposition to God.” In essence, the “world system” is a concept used to highlight the contrast between God's kingdom and the prevailing values and structures of human society, emphasizing the need for believers to maintain a clear distinction between them. Jesus distinguishes between the kingdom of God and this world, emphasizing that His kingdom is not of this world. Jesus spoke these words to Pilate, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm” (John 18:36). Apostle Paul reminds us, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2). This verse emphasizes the importance of not aligning with the values and ways of thinking of the world, but rather seeking a transformation through renewing one's mind to discern God's will and purpose. This is done by having a biblical worldview. What is a biblical worldview? A biblical worldview is a framework of beliefs and ideas that Christians use to understand and interact with the world. It's a way of viewing reality, life, and one's relationship with God. Central to this worldview are beliefs in an eternal, purposeful God, the creation of the universe, and the concept of original sin. It's a biblical framework that shapes how Christians think, act, and interact with the world, emphasizing a belief and trust in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit as the ultimate authority and source of meaning. This worldview shapes our understanding of humanity. It provides a sense of purpose and meaning in life, rooted in God's plan. In essence, a biblical worldview is a way of seeing and experiencing the world through the lens of faith, guided by the teachings of the Bible and the example of Jesus Christ. Be encouraged!
