Scripture means different things to different people!

Heard someone say to me, “that Scripture verse means something different to different people!” Is that a statement of truth? Absolutely not! The Bible cannot mean different things to different people because that only brings confusion. Every passage of Scripture has a single, objective, author-intended meaning, rather than a subjective meaning determined by the reader! The meaning of Scripture is fixed, rooted in its original context, and not subject to individual interpretation. What the person was saying to me was, you have your interpretation, and I have mine! What’s the remedy? The truth of the Bible is that it’s objective and fixed, requiring readers to submit their personal/subjective opinions to the text, rather than reading into (forcing) the text to conform to their perspectives. The answer is found in Acts 17:11. Knowing if biblical teaching is correct requires testing everything against the Scriptures themselves, rather than relying on your perspective, or the teacher's perspective. The Bible instructs believers to emulate the Berean Christians, who "examined the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so" (Acts 17:11). Be encouraged!
