Are Personal Words such as "God said to me" biblical?

Can a Christ follower receive special revelations that become God's personal, revealed purpose for his or her life? Does God provide this special revelation today? Scripture teaches us that God has spoken, infallibly, finally, and authoritatively through persons He chose as mediators of His revelation. We see this in the words, "God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world" (Hebrews 1:1-2). God speaks to us "in His Son" through the Word of God! When looking at the issue of God speaking to us, it's beneficial to pay particular attention to knowledge and divide it into two broad categories: that which can be known through our physical senses (hearing, tasting, smelling, seeing and touching) and that which can only be known through revelation. That which can only be known through revelation can be further separated into two parts: that which God has revealed and the secret things that belong only to Him (Deuteronomy 29:29). We must understand and embrace that what God has revealed is found in the Bible. What's left are the secret things! Having established these categories, we must consider how to classify "personal words from God." They are not in the category of that which can only be known through our physical senses! Therefore, they're either that which God has revealed or from a source outside of God! This is what makes phrases like "God said to me" very problematic! Special revelation from God has always come through His chosen mediators who spoke authoritatively for God. The truth of God always came to the people of God through His ordained mediators! To take "personal words from God" to be special revelation, implies that every Christ follower has become an authoritative mediator of special revelation. That is very problematic because these "personal words "can't be examined by Scripture! Anything which can't be examined and verified by Scripture is to be rejected! Your move. Be encouraged!
