"And He Will Wipe Away Every Tear From Their Eyes" (Revelation 21:4)

Before I begin this teaching, let me say, "Praise God forevermore!" No person alive today can deny but what this world in which we live is literally filled with broken hearts, disappointments, and grief which cause an abundance of tears to flow freely and it seems to be very little we can do about it! The evidence of this fact is staggering! Is there a person who's not acquainted with grief in some way or another? Is there any person who does not have occasion to cry, either over their own sins or the sins of others? Is there any person who does not have occasion to weep over losing friends and loved ones? Though we succeed in drying up a person's tears, there's not a whole lot we can do toward binding up the wound of a broken heart. When our own hearts are wounded and burdened with sorrow and grief, it takes more than human sympathy to strengthen us so that tears no longer flow. There are many causes for the tears we shed in a world that's full of sin and evil. What a blessed thought to be reminded about Abraham who was "looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God" (Hebrews 11:10). What a blessed thought, therefore, that the time is coming when all these things which cause us to weep now will be taken away, and that God Himself will wipe away every tear from the eyes of those who are born again, those who will be privileged to inhabit "the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God" (Revelation 21:2). This is the personal presence of God in the most personal way among His people. This is the detailed and precise care of a loving God! It's the visible and personal presence of God that's emphasized in the wiping away of every tear! Now, let me say it once again, "Praise God forevermore!" Be encouraged!
