Sanctification: "Growing in Christ-likeness" Part Two.

This teaching is a continuation of what was taught in the previous message entitled Sanctification: "Growing in Christ-likeness." In that lesson, we asked the question, "But just what exactly will this transformation accomplish, by the Holy Spirit's power and enablement?" The answer is, the Holy Spirit works in the Christ follower in such a way that Jesus Christ will dwell more fully in our hearts as we put our faith solidly in Jesus. In other words, the Holy Spirit promotes Jesus Christ! Remember the words of Jesus about the Holy Spirit in John 14:26, "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you." Notice the phrase, "all that I said to you." These words are a description of how the Holy Spirit promotes Jesus Christ! Also, in John 16:14, Jesus speaking of the Holy Spirit said, "He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you." In our Ephesians passage, apostle Paul clearly understands this. Paul's prayer is for the Holy Spirit to work so that Jesus' presence may be magnified in the Christ follower! Why? So that the Christ follower will comprehend in increasing measure (the breadth and length and height and depth) "the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge." Wow!! How awesome is that? Here we're told that knowledge of Christ's love is far beyond the capability of human viewpoint and experience! It's only known by those who are following Christ. It's only known by those in whom the Holy Spirit abides. Praise God forevermore! The Holy Spirit, then, enlarges the likeness of Jesus Christ and expands the experience of Jesus Christ in the lives of Christ followers. The Holy Spirit, in short, brings glory to Jesus Christ as we grow in Christ-likeness! Apostle Paul is praying to the Father that the Holy Spirit will work in the Christ follower to enlarge the likeness and experience of Jesus! This is our Triune God at work in us! This is our Triune God working in us to bring about Christ-likeness! I don't know about you, but this is a good point to shout praise God forevermore! The Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit are committed to our growing in Christ-likeness! For the sincere Christ follower, it just doesn't get better than this! Be encouraged!
