The Spirit Filled Witness...Acts 4:12

Our text says, "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). These are the words of a Spirit filled witness. These are the words of a bold witness for Jesus Christ. These are the words of a witness who is insisting on Jesus as the only way of salvation. These are the words of apostle Peter and his bold witness for Jesus! His words speak volumes to the Christ follower! Let's examine Peter's bold witness. According to the Scripture, the Sanhedrin had asked Peter a question. Verse 5 mentions, "rulers and elders and scribes." Verse 6 mentions the "high priest." These positions made up the Jewish ruling body known as the Sanhedrin. The Sanhedrin were very powerful men. As a matter of fact, they were the main force behind Jesus' crucifixion! They asked Peter, "By what power, or in what name, have you done this?" (4:7). Their question is in reference to the healing of a lame man from birth (3:1-10). Peter answered them saying, "by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead.." (4:10). As Christ followers, we live in a culture where tolerance has become elevated to the number one virtue! The culture teaches that "all roads lead to God." In other words, it really doesn't matter who or what you believe in as long as you're comfortable with it! Being tolerant is not supposed to stop us from being bold witnesses for Jesus! The Lord Jesus stands in opposition to the tolerance of our culture and intolerantly says, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father BUT THROUGH ME" (John 14:6). Our bold witness says, "there is salvation in NO ONE ELSE.." (Acts 4:12). So what about faithful Muslims or Buddhists, or Hindus, who may be kind and loving people? What about sincere Roman Catholics, who pray the Rosary, who attend Mass, and who heap up good works in their efforts to come to God? They are not saved if they don't come through Jesus! They are not saved unless they put their trust in Jesus alone! There's simply no other way to God except through trust in Christ alone! And before anyone gets mad at me, remember, I did not make this up! I'm just heralding what Jesus and the apostles said. The great news is, while there's salvation in none else, there is salvation in Jesus! Call on Him. Only He can heal your soul! Your move. Be encouraged!
