Jesus Christ Is God (Part two)!

Another instructive passage concerning Jesus' claim of being God is Mark 2. In this passage, we remember that some friends of a needy paralytic man dug out enough of the roof of a house where Jesus was in order to get their friend into the presence of Jesus! Boy, talk about faith in action! Good friends will always lead you back to the presence of Jesus! Please notice the words of Jesus in verse 5. "And Jesus seeing their faith said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven." Mark then gives us the response of some who heard what Jesus said to the paralytic. We read, "But some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts," "Why does this man speak that way? He is blaspheming; who can forgive sins but God alone?" (Mark 2:6-7). Very interesting! We have to give the scribes credit on this one, for they got it right! Their question of "Who can forgive sins but God alone?" is answered with absolutely no one can forgive sins but God. What then, must be the Lord's point? Putting it simply, the Lord Jesus was declaring before all who was there, "I am God!" To reinforce the claim, in verses 10-11 our Lord says, "But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"---He said to the paralytic, "I say to you, get up, pick up your pallet and go home." The physical healing attested to the spiritual truth concerning Jesus. He was, indeed, the Son of Man who was God incarnate (taking upon human flesh) with the authority to forgive sins; therefore, Jesus was God! All other beliefs that relegate Jesus as being "just a good man," "a good teacher," "or just a prophet from God" all are in error! Jesus is so much more than these...He is the God-Man, 100% God and 100% Man. This is what qualifies Him to be our sin bearer! Praise God forevermore. As Christ followers, let us behold and celebrate the awesome wonder of our Triune God, who has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit! Your move. Be encouraged!!
