For the Christ follower, our future resurrection is a significant subject of understanding the biblical perspective of the future. Basically, the resurrection is about the replacement of our mortal physical body with an immortal physical body. Christ made this promise to every Christ follower in very clear terms! He said, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies" (John 11:25). The Lord's resurrection is a prelude to every Christ follower's resurrection. Paul said it best with these words, "But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep" (1 Corinthians 15:20). In other words, Jesus' resurrection is the first of many to come! Notice the phrase "those who are fallen asleep." This is about those who had died in Christ. The symbolic language of "sleep" suggests that we'll wake up again. The Christ follower who dies will wake up in the resurrection! Praise God forevermore! But what type of body is it? It is a glorified body! Listen to the words of Paul. "So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body; It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body" (1 Corinthians 15:42-44). The glorified body is imperishable, glorious, powerful and spiritual! Wow, it doesn't get any better than that! What a glorious future we have to look forward to! Your move. Be encouraged! Enjoy the holidays!
