I love the Bible because of its origin! The special revelation that resulted in the Scripture being produced as the inspired Word of God was brought into existence by the Holy Spirit working through the minds and hearts of the biblical writers. Their central focus and teaching is on the person and work of Jesus Christ. Our two passages of Scripture are crucial for understanding correctly the inspiration of the Scriptures. Apostle Paul says, "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work" (2 Tim. 3:16-17). How can the Christ follower claim to embrace the Bible but reject the teaching it brings? How can the Christ follower claim to embrace the Bible but reject the reproof it brings? How can the Christ follower claim to embrace the Bible but reject the correction it brings? How can the Christ follower claim to embrace the Bible but reject the training in righteousness it brings? According to Paul, all these things are profitable and for our benefit! All these things are to be embraced as lifestyles of Christ followers! According to Paul, Scripture is the result of God's inspiration. What an amazing statement concerning the origin of the Bible! So identified is God with His Word that when Scripture speaks, God speaks (Rom. 9:17; Gal. 3:8). Many sincere Christ followers have said to me, "I wish that God would speak to me." My response is to inform them that God is speaking to them whenever they read His Word! Because the Bible is inspired by God, its words are unbreakable (John 10:34-36), eternal (Mat. 24:35), trustworthy (Psalm 119:160), and has the ability to pierce the heart of man (Heb. 4:12). Praise God forevermore! Also, the inspired Word of God will not go forth without accomplishing what God wishes it to (Isa. 55:11). But what is inspiration? When we speak of the Bible as being inspired, we're referring to the fact that God divinely influenced the writers of the Scriptures in such a way that what they wrote was the very word of God! The word inspiration means "God-breathed." That's why I love the Bible! Its origin is of God and that makes it unique among all other books! The Bible not only claims inspiration, but also to have the power to change us and make us complete. What more can we need? Your move. Be encouraged!
