From the heart of Dr. Robert L. Taylor, Th.D. We read, “Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so” (Acts 17:11). In summary, the Bereans have long been seen as a positive example of how a person or community should respond to any and all biblical teaching. We are called to eagerly learn from God’s Word and, no matter who the teacher is, to scrutinize, examine, inspect closely, and thoroughly investigate the teaching in comparison with what God has said in the Bible. The practice of the ancient Bereans is a model for all who desire to grow spiritually today. They knew that it was their personal responsibility to avoid being deceived. The Bereans’ eagerness inspires Christians to approach Bible study with enthusiasm and anticipation. God wants us to listen thoughtfully and critically to any Bible teaching no matter who the teacher is!! Be encouraged!
