Understanding 2 Corinthians 4:7 (Conclusion)

Paul teaches, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us” (2 Corinthians 4:7). Paul writes now that this great treasure is not kept under lock and key in some museum or a bank vault. Instead, God keeps this treasure of the light of His glory in Christ in fragile jars of clay. God has deliberately chosen fragile and unimpressive vessels (believers) to hold this wonderful treasure. Why? Paul says God wants to show that the power of His glory is from Him not us. The power of the gospel is so overwhelming that it is not limited by the quality of its container.
