Understanding 2 Corinthians 4:7

Paul teaches, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us” (2 Corinthians 4:7). What is the treasure? From the previous verse, we know that it is the “light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:6). Paul described God as shining His light into Paul's heart, penetrating the darkness of Paul’s unbelief and revealing His glory to Paul through faith in Christ. To know God in this way, to see God's glory and to be given the opportunity to share in that glory forever, is the greatest of all treasures.
