The Goodness of God (Conclusion)

Many believers and non-believers respond, “If God is good, why is there so much suffering, pain and brokenness in the world?” According to the biblical perspective, the fact that the world is broken does not contradict the goodness of God! Scripture teaches that the world was created perfect, but human rebellion (sin) fractured creation, leading to pain and dysfunction. This brokenness resulted from abusing the goodness of God! How? It was God’s goodness that gave humanity freedom, which allows for moral choices that can lead to brokenness. God’s goodness is seen in that the broken world is temporary. The Bible promises a future restoration where "He will wipe away every tear" (Revelation 21:4). In summary, the biblical view is that the world is broken because it is fallen, but God is good because He is the redeemer who is actively fixing it and will one day remove all brokenness. Be encouraged!
