Spurious Anointings! (Part One)

The anointing in Scripture had a number of different uses. This is probably the reason why believers use the term to include experiences and phenomena which are not ever mentioned in the Bible in relation to anointing. What are spurious anointings? Spurious anointings refer to “counterfeit, false, or non-genuine spiritual empowering that mimics true biblical anointing but does not originate from the Holy Spirit.” These are often characterized by showy, emotional, or "new" manifestations not rooted in Scripture, designed to deceive or lead believers away from the truth (see 1 John 4:1). Biblically, not every spiritual experience originates from God because the spirit realm includes deceptive, demonic influences and human emotionalism. Be encouraged!
