Spiritual Maturity (Part Two)

In 1 Corinthians 2:14-15 and 3:1-3, the Apostle Paul categorizes humanity into three distinct groups based on their spiritual condition and how they respond to God. The differences between the natural, carnal, and spiritual person come down to two things: whether they have the Holy Spirit, and who is ultimately running their life. Paul writes: “The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Corinthians 2:14). The natural man is an unsaved person who has not experienced spiritual rebirth or accepted Jesus Christ. They live in the original, fallen condition inherited from Adam, which leaves them spiritually dead until changed by God.
