Sound Doctrine Is Too Important To Ignore! (Part Three)

Paul teaches, “What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 1:13). This verse is a cornerstone passage for understanding why sound doctrine is emphasized in the New Testament. This means that what the apostles taught is not to be updated, altered, or reinvented, but to be a “pattern of sound teaching.” Sound doctrine holds apostolic authority rather than being a collection of popular opinions or man-made philosophies that promote wrong living.
