I want to address the uncertainty and fears people are facing, by pointing to God’s sovereign control in the life of believers. In light of those who have been and are being affected by the government layoffs, furloughs, and job uncertainty, I have a message of hope for you. Our trust is not in the jobs, but in the sovereign God who provides for our needs! When everything is uncertain, God’s sovereignty is verified! Because God is sovereign, nothing in the believer’s life is purposeless. We know that we will experience trials, suffering, and challenging circumstances. How terrible it would be to face these things without the assurance that God is in control of them and has a purpose in permitting them. God’s sovereignty is the pillow on which we rest our weary heads and our anxious hearts. It is the governing and central truth that guarantees He is able to do everything He determines to do, that He will fulfill all His promises. Brothers and sisters, we are not walking through this world aimlessly. We are not wandering and trying to figure it all out as we go. We are trusting in the One who is sovereign. We are trusting in the Author of creation. We are trusting in God who is all-powerful, all-knowing, and fully in control. We are trusting in the only One who is worthy of our trust and praise in the first place. We put our faith in God because He is the only One who can work all of this out for the good for those who love Him. God is the only one who can sustain us. God is the only One we can put our hope in who will never disappoint us. This teaching is designed to cause you to lean into your faith. The believer doesn’t find security in this world. Our hope and security is in a sovereign, loving, caring and all-knowing God! Be encouraged!
