Is it worthy of your sacrifice?

Everyone has something they trust, something they chase, something they build their identity on. For some it’s success, relationships, approval, control, pleasure, self-image,  money, or their own intellect! They won’t call it “god,” but it certainly functions like one. The Bible reminds us, “The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?” (Jeremiah 17:9) meaning the human core—thoughts, intentions, and will—is inherently inclined toward sin and selfish deceit, making it incurable on its own. The remedy: “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come” (2 Corinthians 5:17). Be encouraged!
