Human experiences often shape spiritual perceptions!

Many believers struggle with the biblical concept of God as Father primarily because their understanding is colored by their experiences with earthly father figures who are abusive, absent, passive, or demanding. When this is the experience many individuals may struggle to trust or feel safe with a "Father" in heaven. Growing up with strained parental dynamics, neglect, or confusion about who was supposed to protect you… the word “Father” doesn’t always feel safe. Sometimes it feels distant. Sometimes it feels confusing. Sometimes it feels like a wound. Being in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) means learning that God is not the reflection of what you experienced! He is the restoration of what you should have had. Living by faith is part of relearning what a Father is supposed to be. Be encouraged!
