God’s glory refers to the inherent greatness, beauty, and perfection of God's character, encompassing His attributes, worth, and radiant presence. It's the outward display and manifestation of His being, revealed through creation, and His actions. Understanding and embracing God’s glory means acknowledging Him as the ultimate source of our good and the only true worthy being. By making Himself our greatest treasure, God provides the only thing that can bring us lasting joy and satisfaction. We were created for a purpose, and that purpose is to find our greatest joy in God. When we are most satisfied in Him and His glory, God is most glorified. Scripture teaches that God's love is primarily focused on His own glory. This doesn't mean God’s love is selfish, but rather that He finds ultimate satisfaction and purpose in displaying His own glorious attributes and intentions for His creation. In other words, God's love is the work of captivating us with Himself, the only one who can fulfill our deepest needs and desires. Paul teaches, “He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved” (Ephesians 1:5-6). This act of choosing believers in advance to become part of God's family contributes to God doing all things for His own glory. This includes His advance planning (predestination) of those who will become His children. That should cause every believer a moment of pause. Consider that God, who created all things, specifically chose that we would be created, live, become a child of God, and one day stay with God for eternity! The supreme goal of God in history is the display of His great glory. God created the world and humanity for the purpose of glorifying Himself, to show forth His magnificence. God's acts of love, such as predestining His people for adoption, are all done for the praise of His glorious grace. God's love for humanity is not separate from His pursuit of glory, but rather it is the means through which His glory is expressed and displayed. Humans were made to find their ultimate joy in seeing and delighting in God's glory. Be encouraged!
