Examining what we believe about God’s goodness (Part Two)

Job’s wife telling Job to “curse God and die” in Job 2:9 represents a breaking point where extreme, unyielding trauma shattered her ability to see God as inclined to do good or provide help to others. She suffered the exact same devastating losses as Job—the death of all ten children, the loss of their wealth, and the collapse of their social standing—while watching her husband waste away in painful, agonizing boils. Her worldview taught her to measure God’s goodness by the comfort of her circumstances. However, when total ruin came anyway, her worldview collapsed and failed. In examining what we believe about God’s goodness, we need a biblical worldview which is the framework through which a believer interprets reality, truth, and daily life based on the truth of Scripture.
