Bringing Clarity to Proverbs 18:21 (Part One)

King Solomon teaches, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21). Does this mean that people can speak things into existence? That’s what many are believing! But what does this mean? Do I have the power to speak things into existence? Do the declarations of Christians possess divine power? The Bible teaches that only God creates out of nothing (Genesis 1, Romans 4:17), while human, finite words cannot force reality to change or create new things. People are declaring and decreeing themselves prosperous, healthy, and wealthy while remaining the opposite! People are boldly declaring all these things because they believe the tongue holds the power to speak these things into their existence! That’s not what Proverbs 18:21 teaches. In bringing much needed clarity, let’s examine the truth of this verse. Be encouraged!
