Bringing Clarity to Proverbs 18:21 (Conclusion)

King Solomon teaches, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21). He says, “those who love it.” Now what exactly does that mean? Those who “love it”? “Love” what? Solomon is talking about people who love to talk. The context bears witness to this. Look at verses 2 and 13. Solomon is emphasizing that there are always real-life consequences when it comes to our words, AND, if you love to talk, you shouldn't be surprised when your many words lead to many consequences, and typically, many unenviable consequences; many hard consequences. That’s the wisdom Solomon is sharing. Be encouraged! Wisdom and restraint are needed when it comes to our words!
