A biblical clarification of spiritual gifts (Conclusion)

How do I identify my spiritual gift? There is no magic formula or definitive test that can tell us exactly what our spiritual gifts are. The Holy Spirit sovereignly distributes the gifts as He determines (1 Corinthians 12:7-11). A common problem believers face is the temptation to get so caught up in trying to identify our spiritual gift that we only seek to serve God in the area in which we feel we have been gifted. That is not how the spiritual gifts work. God calls us to obediently serve Him in all things. My suggestion is just be active in the Lord’s work. Gifts are discovered and developed by actively walking in obedience to what has already been commanded of every believer. For example, in Romans 12:7, serving is a gift given to some, but the command to serve one another in Galatians 5:13, is given to all. In Ephesians 4:11, evangelism is a gift given to some, but the command to witness in Acts 1:8, is given to all. In Romans 12:7, teaching is a gift given to some, but the command to teach in Matthew 28:19-20 is given to all. Be encouraged!
