Do you believe in history? Do you believe in past events? History verifies that Jesus was crucified and died on a cross. Historic documents other than the New Testament writings have demonstrated that Jesus died on a cross! In other words, the death of Jesus on a cross is a matter of historical fact! As a matter of fact, almost every scholar on the first century period of time state as a fact that Jesus lived and was documented as being crucified and dying on a cross near Jerusalem around 30-33 AD. What we're seeing is the proof for the death and burial of Christ includes not only the New Testament, but history as well! Do you believe in history? The location of Jesus' tomb was never in dispute! What are the proofs of which Paul spoke? Jesus died; Historically verified! Jesus was buried; Historically verified! What about the resurrection of Jesus? Did Jesus return to life from among the dead ones? An examination of the evidence points to the fact that Jesus did return to life and never died again! Among the many points of evidence, we have: the fact that the location of Jesus' tomb was known (to the disciples, the women that came to the tomb on the third day, the Roman and Jewish leaders, and early Christ followers who visited the tomb). Actually, the Roman guards and the Jewish leaders concocted a false story that Jesus' disciples had stolen His body rather than finding the body to discredit the account (Matthew 28:11-15). However, the disciples were perplexed at the tomb being empty, which further proves they could not have been involved in a plot to steal Jesus' body! History proves that Jesus' tomb was empty! The body of a dead Christ was never found, and there wasn't any proof to go against it. Do you believe in history? Lastly, we have eyewitnesses to Jesus' resurrection! Are eyewitness accounts credible? Paul said that over 500 people saw the resurrected Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:6). Would over 500 people stand mute about the resurrection if it didn't happen? Any one of the over 500 people could've discredited Paul's statement if it was not accurate! But it was true! Also, another proof worth considering, is history tells us that all but one of the 12 apostles died for their faith that Jesus was resurrected and therefore was God. People may give their lives for causes they believe in, but people will not die for something they know to be false! Do you still believe in history? Then why not believe the New Testament account? It contains the historic account of Jesus Christ! Praise the Lord! Your move. Be encouraged!
