"Never has a man spoken the way this man speaks" (John 7:46)

The context of our passage tells us "the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to seize Him" (John 7:32). They were sent to take hold of a "seditious" man and a "false prophet." They arrived where Jesus was teaching and they discovered Him to be a different person to the description they were given from the chief priests and the Pharisees. Because of this, "no one laid hands on Him" (John 7:44). These words put Jesus in a class by Himself. These words are describing the uniqueness of Jesus in the world. It's the uniqueness of Jesus in the world that should cause all to listen to Him! The reason given for no one laying hands on Jesus to arrest Him was they heard that no man ever spoke with the grace, the power, the authority, the eloquence and majesty of Jesus! Jesus still speaks this way to all with ears to hear. Jesus not only speaks the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth...He is the truth! He's still speaking the truth about sin, salvation, pardon, holiness, grace and mercy! If you're going to listen to anyone, should not it be Jesus! How about you? Trust in Jesus and find eternal life! Your move. Be encouraged!
