"Your Testimonies Also Are My Delight; They Are My Counselors" (Psalm 119:24)

As Christ followers, we all have to make many decisions that serve to shape the outcome of our lives. Some may be small and some not so small; but they all come together to shape our lives. In the world in which we live, we desperately need God's testimonies to function as our wise counselors! In other words, we need the wisdom of God in order to make sound, wholesome decisions. The wisdom of God helps us to navigate our way through a world system that's openly opposed and hostile to God. This system is dark and strewn with obstacles designed to make us fall. We need the wisdom of God! However, this kind of wisdom does not come to us by neglecting God's testimonies until a crisis situation shows up and then running to it for some urgent guidance. Have you ever heard of the man who needed to know God's counsel for a situation, and so he opened the Bible at random and pointed to a verse. It said, "Judas went and hanged himself." The man thought "I'd better try again." So he pointed again and the verse said, "Go thou and do likewise." He thought, "This can't be what God wants, I'll try once more." So he pointed again at random and read, "What thou doest, do quickly!" The wisdom and counsel of God comes from a thorough knowledge of His testimonies, gleaned over the years as we walk closely with Him! Our walk with God can't be random or unfamiliar. It needs to be close and intimate. As we delight in God's testimonies, we'll embrace them as our counselors. It does't get any better than this! Your move. Be encouraged!
