Our text says, "I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe, these are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might." In this awesome prayer, Paul is telling the Christ follower what God wants them to know! God desires that every Christ follower would have the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the true knowledge of Him (v. 15-17). In our text, Paul elaborates on what that means! God wants us to know some essentials about our great and wonderful salvation that will bring us assurance about our high calling as God's children. These essentials will provide us the hope and eternal point of view that we desperately need to endure trials, as well as, the strength to persevere in godliness! God wants us to know (become intimate with) the surpassing greatness of His power that saved us! He wants us to know the surpassing greatness of His power that enables us to persevere through trials! God wants us to know the surpassing greatness of His power to serve Him faithfully! God wants us to know the surpassing greatness of His power to keep us to the end! Do you want to know what God wants you to know? Do you think it's important for you to know what God wants you to know? To the extent that we know and embrace these vast spiritual resources, we will enjoy our God and glorify Him forever! Your move. Be encouraged! Praise God forevermore!
